Getting teachers registered, logged in and verified
1. Check which teachers have already registered
- As an administrator your homepage will look a little different from the homepage of a teacher.
- The normal teacher homepage looks like this
- But as an administrator you homepage will display your school. Click on the school name to see the following screen.
- You will notice that it looks similar to the normal teacher homepage, but with links to additional tools at the top.
- You view the list of teachers who have registered as a teacher at your school, click on the "Teacher Search"
- You will see a list of all teachers who in the past have registered as a teacher at your school.
- You can sort the list by when last the teachers were active and whether they are already verified.
- If it has been a long time since a teacher has been active, they may not be able to remember their username and password and you will likely need to help them get into their account.
- If they are already verified, it means that they will be able to view the reports for the classes. If not, then you will need to assist them to request to be verified in order to see the reports.
- If the list of teachers is long, you can search for a teacher by name by typing their name or surname into the search box
2. Helping a teacher who forgot their username or password
- If you can see a teacher on the list, but they cannot remember their username or password, you can help them get back into their account
- We are not allowed to reveal the email addresses, mobile numbers or passwords of learners or teachers to you.
- But we can show you the Siyavula ID for a teacher since this is not personal information.
- The Siyavula ID for a teacher will appear next to their name and under the "Siyavula ID" column.
- A teacher or learner can use their Siyavula ID as their username to log in with.
- If a teacher can not remember their password, you can reset their password.
- Then they will be able to log in with their Siyavula ID and the new password you created for them.
- To reset a teacher's password, you can select their account by ticking the box next to their name and clicking on the "Set Password" button
- You will see a box to enter a new password for the teacher.
- Type in a password that is easy to communicate to the teacher and click "Save"
- You can then inform the teacher that they can Log In with their Siyavula ID and the new password you set for them.
- Help them to make sure to "Log In" rather than "Sign Up" for a new account
3. Helping a teacher to get verified
- In order for a teacher to be able to view the reports which show learner names and performance, their user accounts need to be verified.
- If they are not verified, they will not be able to open the report.
- As an administrator you will be able to see whether a teacher is verified on the same Teacher Search page
- The teacher will also notice on their homepage that they are not verified
and when they try to open a report they will get a pop up message
To request verification a teacher can click on the "Verify me" button and complete the form
- and select "Request verification"
- Siyavula will receive a message and it will take 24 to 48 hours to verify the teacher and send them an email notifying them that they have been verified.![
