Mathematics revision content to activate prior knowledge

Practice revision content before starting a new topic

Siyavula has created revision content for grade 8 to 11 learners. This revision content is guided by algorithm that is adaptive to every individual learner. These questions are designed to help learners to revise and activate prior knowledge. As a teacher, encourage your learners to log on to their accounts and practice the revision content for each topic. After completing these exercises, learners will be ready to learn the content of the new topic at their grade level.

The benefits of practicing revision content are

  1. This is a remedial opportunity driven by the algorithm for learners who might be struggling. The revision questions can also help learners plug common gaps, identify their weaknesses, and do some remediation.
  2. For strong learners this is a refining procedural fluency and activation of prior knowledge.
  3. Each revision section contains content covered in the previous two grades, except in the case of Grade 9, where prior coverage is restricted to only Grade 8. Grade 8 revision contains content from Grades 6-7.

Unlike grade level sections, learners will not receive mastery stars for the revision sections. However, the progress bar next to the revision section will track their progress.

It is important to note that when the learner is practicing for mastery on grade level content, the system is adaptive to the learners progress. If the learner is struggling the system will introduce questions from the revision content to help with remediation.
