How to assign Siyavula Curated Assignments to your classes


The Siyavula Curate Assignments are readily available assessments, created by the team of expert teachers who are partnering with the Siyavula team. This feature will save you time to set your own assessment. As a teacher you will find quality assessments that are aligned with the CAPS assessment standards already set. All you have to do is tick the assessment you want and send it to your class.

Your favorite pre-set assessments have not changed. These are the assignments that used to be loaded by the Siyavula team. The Curated Assignments are there to make it easy for you to assign to your classes by yourself so that you can view reports.

You can still request your learners to use input the DAC-A codes to access the assessment. Loading the curated assignments in your classes will load the assignments into the learner's dashboards, and also allow you to view the reports from your classes reports.

The types of curated assignments



1. Baseline Assessments


Siyavula has created baseline assessments for Grade 8, Grade 9 and Grade 10 Mathematics learners, so that teachers can assess their learners' knowledge and skills at the beginning of high school, or at the start of the FET phase.

2. Summary Assessments per chapter


The summary assessments allow learners to master each chapter of the curriculum that has been covered in class by interleaving practice in an end-of-chapter quiz. The assessments constitute of a set of 10 to 25 questions which are aligned to CAPS assessment standard breakdown, and teachers can assess their learners' knowledge and skills of each of the topics they teach throughout the year.

3. Past Papers for Exam preparation


Siyavula has a great way to practice for past exam papers. The generative questions allow learners to practice each question until they have mastered it. That way learner get a feel of the exam in how the questions are sequenced but also get quality practice, that will ensure that they are ready for the exam.

How to assign Curated Assignments



Step 1: Go to your assignments page

On you menu panel, select Set work, and then click Assignments



Step 2: Select Siyavula Curated Assignments




Step 3: Select the desired assignment from the list
* Filter the list by grade. This is the grade level of the assignment. This will help make your search list shorter.
Under Assignment, search the name of the assignment. For example typing the word Paper will filter for only Paper assignments. Or typing the title of chapter will make it easy to find the summary assessment.
Click View to see how your learners will experience the assignment
Tick the box on the left to select the desired assignment

You can select multiple assignments. Just be careful not to overwhelm your learners.



Step 4: Select the class and send
After selecting the assignment, scroll down to Choose the recipients
Filter your list by grade. This is grade level of the class that you are sending the assignment to.
You can also search by class name
Tick the box(es) on the left to select the classes
Click send

For teachers with premium access, note that the grade group is meant to have all learners in that particular grade. But it is advised that you select all the class names.

Caution: We currently do not have functionality to remove a sent assignment from the learners dashboards. Check your selection before clicking send.
